Local accounting firm celebrates a milestone in their 50th anniversary.
Borgida & Company, P.C., Certified Public Accountants, partners Peter Bartolotta of Niantic; Aaron Johnson of South Windsor, and Thomas Scanlon of Glastonbury and staff celebrated the firm’s 50th Anniversary at a cocktail reception at Cavey’s on Thursday, October 20th.
At the event Mayor Jay Moran presented the company with an official citation saying “that the Town of Manchester does hereby offer its sincerest congratulations to Borgida & Company” and that “the citizens of Manchester and the Board of Directors would like to wish them continued success for many more years to come”.
Borgida & Company was first established in 1966 by Charles A. Borgida, working alone with his wife Joyce as his administrative assistant. The firm grew through partnering with other CPAs and through acquisitions of retiring practitioners most notably the late George Kanehl in 1986; the late George Mrosek Sr. in 1988 both of Manchester; and most recently Paul Watson of Coventry in 2013. Over the years there have been many entity changes, however, “Borgida” has always remained in the name of the firm. Surrounded by family and friends Mr. Borgida, who retired in 1990, spoke with pride in having his name continue in a company that has maintained such high standards throughout the years.
The firm has been located in several different locations on East Center Street; currently located at 360 East Center Street. Partners Bartolotta, Johnson and Scanlon have expanded the firm to include offices in Niantic and Storrs as well. The firm offers tax, accounting, auditing and consulting services to individuals and a variety of small to medium-sized businesses.
