7 Reasons Why It Might Be Time to Get a New CPA

Another year has gone by.

It's time to begin gathering my material for my taxes to be prepared.

Then it dawned on you, why hasn’t my accountant called me to discuss some possible strategies? If these are questions you are having, it may be time to consider a new CPA. The following are some reasons to consider whether you should find a new accountant:

1) Doesn’t return my phone calls in a timely manner

2) Always puts me on extension

3) There is no proactive tax planning during the year

4) There is no clear fee agreement; then the bill is higher than expected

5) You no longer have a good rapport with them

6) Your existing CPA does not keep up with the new tax laws

7) Too many correspondences from the IRS due to filing errors

These are just a few complaints one may have with their current accountant, but when they become a yearly issue, it may be time to take a look at a change. However, if you have been with your CPA for a long time, it is important to be honest as to why you are moving on. State your reasons and make a phone call, or put it in writing.
